Several months ago I got a Samsung Galaxy Note II phone and it’s been great for an old(er) guy like me. It’s big but it fits in my pocket , and it’s the first phone with a screen large enough so that I can use it to check email and browse the Web. However, with a 5.5″ screen, the Galaxy Note II phone and my Nexus 7 tablet were too similar in size, so I sold the Nexus 7 and kept the ASUS TF300 as my only Android tablet. Unfortunately, my wife decided that she liked the ASUS better than her Kindle Fire HD, so I was left without an Android tablet. I’ve been impressed with the features and performance of the Galaxy Note II phone, so I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet when I saw one on display at the local Costco Warehouse. The tablet isn’t cheap, but I think it’s worth the cost. Today I received the online edition of the August, 2013 Consumer Reports and CR rates the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 #1, ahead of the iPad Mini in the “7 to 8-inch, Wi-Fi only” category.
